Getting Started

Step 1:

The first step to getting started using IE Class with your class is to setup a demo account. The demo account is free and will give you the opportunity to see what is included on IE Class, how the lessons are presented, and how the labs are organized and assigned. You can also practice creating classes and student accounts. When you create your account, we try to activate it the same day, but please allow up to 24 hours. If you cannot log into your account after 24 hours, definitely send us an email.

Step 2:

Once you get your demo account activated, you should try it out. Log into the system and look through the lessons under the Student tab. Look through the features from the teacher center, and practice creating classes and student accounts, and try assigning a lab to the class you created. Also you should log in as a student to see IE Class from the student's perspective.

Step 3:

Once you have looked over the curriculum and seen, and tried, what IE Class has to offer, it is time to get the Purchase Order. If your school requires a W9 or Sole Source Affidavit, both may be downloaded from the Teacher Center page under the Resource Center box toward the bottom of the page. When you log into your account, click the Upgrade button and enter your PO number. We will be alerted that you have requested the upgrade. You can also email us the PO number too, just be sure to include your username and school. We will upgrade your account and you can immediately start using the curriculum with your classes.

Account Features

Demo Account:

Teachers may request a free Demo Account to view the available features of IE Class. Demo Accounts are limited to only 10 student accounts. The downloadable lab exercises and projects are also not available on Demo Accounts, but there are sample labs available for download.

The Basic Teacher Subscription includes:

  • Over 150 Daily Labs and Exercises - Teachers have access to all the hands-on labs and exercises. All the labs may be electronically distributed to students eliminating the need to print out each one, however labs may be printed if you choose. Once a lab has been digitally assigned, students can access the lab from school or home! This is a great feature for helping students that are absent keep up with their class work.
  • 75 Student Accounts - Each subscription includes 75 student accounts. The teacher has full control over the student accounts. Student accounts are assigned to individual students and the teacher may delete and create them as needed.
  • Online Quiz Builder - Teachers can quickly and easily create custom online quizzes for their students using our online quiz system. The online Quiz Builder contains hundreds of questions to choose from, and if the question you want to include on your quiz is not included, you can easily add it. Your quizzes may be stored and assigned to individual classes or students as desired. Students will only have access to quizzes that have been assigned to them. As the students complete the quizzes, they are instantly graded and the scores are recorded in an easy to read report for the teacher.
  • 8 Full Length Projects - At specific points in the course, students are given the opportunity to complete a full length project utilizing all of the concepts presented up to that point. Each project provides the student with specific guidelines to follow, in much the same way as if they were asked to design a web site by a client. The teacher is also provided with a grading rubric for each project.
  • Online Peer Evaluation System - What better way of getting students to recognize the do's and don'ts of web design than having them evaluate each others sites. Many teachers have students present their projects to the class. We have provided a useful tool to allow students to provide useful feedback to each other. From the Teacher Center, the teacher can activate the Peer Evaluation System and students can then select the student presenting their project and comment on what was good about the site and what should be improved. They can also assign a grade. The teacher may also enter comments on each student and assign a grade. Evaluation reports may be made available to the students online through the Student Center, or they may be printed. The grades assigned by students will be averaged and presented as a Class Grade, and the grade assigned by the teacher will be presented as the Official Grade. Students will not see which student made which comments, but the teacher can, and may delete as necessary.
  • Messaging System - Teachers are given the ability to send messages or announcements to individual students or to their entire class. When students log into the system, they will be notified of any new messages they might have. Students may respond to the messages received or send new messages to the teacher. The system does not allow students to send messages to other students by default, but the teacher does have the ability to grant student to student messaging within a class.

The basic service includes one Teacher Account, however subscribers may request two additional Teacher Accounts for each Basic Service Subscription. Additional Teacher Accounts do not include additional student accounts. The standard 75 student accounts will be distributed among the Teacher Accounts. Each teacher receiving a Teacher Account must complete the online application and agree to the Terms of Service. If more than three teacher account are needed, then a second subscription will need to be purchased. Discounts are available for multiple subscriptions. See the IE Class Terms of Service for specific account information.

Renewal:

All online services provided with the Basic Subscription, including complete updates to the Lab Exercises, can be renewed for an additional year for just $250. The renewal rate is only available to current subscribers. To be eligible for the renewal rate, the renewal subscription must be paid within 30 days of account expiration. Subscribers who allow their subscription to lapse beyond 30 days must pay the standard subscription rate. The renewal rate does not include any additional student accounts purchased.

Additional Students:

Up to 50 Additional student accounts over the 75 included in the basic subscription may be added to the basic or renewal subscription at a rate of $1 per student. Students may be added at any time during the subscription period. Additional student accounts expire with the current subscription regardless of when the additional accounts were added.

Account Reinstatement

If a school has had an account within the past year that is currently expired, the account may be reinstated for $35 plus the current renewal price. Accounts that have been expired for longer for one year must register at the initial registration rate.
